Summer's properly arrived in Berlin, and this article rounds up deals to help you make the most of it: a Deutsche Bahn family ticket for summer travel, 15% off almost everything at SharkNinja (including fans and ice cream machines), up to 72% off in the Lidl mid-season sale, and a TV bundle to watch the World Cup. I'm also breaking down what the recent ECB rate hike means for your savings, and how to get a better rate.

💵 Tip of the Week: Get a Better Rate on Your Savings
The ECB just raised its main interest rate to 2.25%, which is good news if you have money sitting in savings – provided your bank actually passes the rate on. A lot of traditional German banks don't, so it's worth checking what you're earning, because the difference over a year adds up.
I keep my own savings in Trade Republic*, mostly because it puts everything in one place: banking, a Visa debit card with 1% Saveback, savings, and investing all live in the same app, so I can move money between them instantly. It also passes the full ECB rate on to customers automatically, which means I'm now earning 2.25% on my balance without doing anything or locking the money away. It's not the highest rate out there, but if you'd rather not juggle multiple accounts, it's the easiest way to put your savings to work. You can read more in my full Trade Republic review.
If you have a larger amount saved and want to squeeze out as much interest as possible, you can do better than 2.25%. Consorsbank* currently pays up to 3.4% for the first three months, and if you run a registered business, Finom* offers up to 5% for five months. I've rounded up these and the rest in my guide to the highest-interest savings accounts.

🚆 A €99.99 Family Ticket for Summer Train Travel
Deutsche Bahn launched an affordable family ticket* for the summer that lets up to five people travel together on long-distance trains (ICE, IC and EC) within Germany for €99.99 round trip, or €59.99 one-way, seat reservations included.
The ticket has to include at least one adult and one child, and covers a maximum of two adults and three children (or one adult and four children), with children up to age 14. There's no requirement that you're actually related, so it works just as well for a group of friends with kids traveling together.
It's available while supplies last, for travel between June 26 and September 14 – so it's worth booking early if you've got a summer trip in mind. Get the family ticket here*.
